This is a excellent whole house filter. This version is without a backwash unit which means that there is no water wasted and no use of energy to run the backwash unit. It is less expensive than most effective whole house filters and requires little or no maintenance during its lifetime.
The combination of kdf with carbon means that you get thorough filtration of the normal contaminants you find on a municipal system. Our manufacturing partner's patented process for preparing the kdf means it works several times better - and longer - than kdf without that process. All of the whole house filters we sell remove hundreds of contaminants including chlorine, chlorination byproducts, lead, heavy metals, asbestos, iron, hydrogen sulfide and hard scale. The kdf takes out chemical-based contaminants and the carbon removes organic contaminants. The filtered water is noticeably softer without the addition of salts or chemicals. There are no membranes or filters to replace.
When the filtering mediums are exhausted - after about 300,000 gallons! - get a refill kit to replace the used materials. The use of the newly-formulated kdf cubes allow kdf and carbon to work together in the same tank with no channeling or packing problems.

This is a single tank whole house filter for use on chlorinated water. The best media to remove fluoride is not practical at the whole-house level. This filter will reduce fluoride by perhaps 35%. To remove fluoride we recommend that you add a 2-canister kitchen fluoride plus filter. If you want to further reduce fluoride at shower and bath, add shower and bath filters there. (The biggest risk from fluoride is from ingestion.)
